Treating knots in wood

We've just had a knotty pine glass panelled door fitted and I'm keen to get it painted white gloss asap. What type of thing is knot treatment? we don't have any so I was wondering if we could improvise with anything just to make a start on it. We've got stuff like PVA and stain block lying around as well as white primer and gloss.

You need a bottle of "Knotting" which you can get from builders merchants.
It is only really for sealing the knots to stop any sap leaking and needs to be applied 2 or 3 times so don't get rushing. As with all decorating good preparation means everything.0
