I dont know what to charge per hour

I've been asked to do some regular work for a property letting company but i dont know what to charge
I havent got a trade so the work would be limited to basic stuff like painting, repairing fencing, lawn cutting and some basic woodworking
Any ideas

  • Would you be self employed? My gran had hired a few odd job people, gardeners etc in the past, the going rate tends to be about a tenner an hour.

Also consider whether they will be paying you for travelling expenses if you are travelling to different properties to work.

you could try ringing round people who offer a similar service & ask what they charge to give you an idea.

i would think you want to earn £10 an hour after expenses, travel, tools insurance tax etc. so would think £15 + , but in the current climate there will be lots of odd jobbers prepared to undercut you. one other thing, if you start at a tenner and then want 15 how do you justify the rise, start a bit high and offer discounts after a set spend.

as an example, i let a flat, wanted 450 a month but lots available so let for 425 at 450 for 6 months then 400 for 2nd 6 months, should encourage them to stay the year as we are getting a lot of migrant workers short staying and moving on.
