to convert light bulb holders on a light fitting.
We have a 6 bulb fitting in the front room that takes SBC golf ball bulbs. I have just been given (gratis) 6 energy saving golf ball bulbs but they are SES fittings.
Is it possible to convert the bulb holders from SBC to SES either with an adapter or by taking the fitting down and taking it apart?

Hi,
think this is what you are looking for, though may take you
some time to show a saving, just an example, you may find
them cheaper elsewhere.0 -
That does NOT comply with regulations as it cannot guarentee connection of the centre pin to the live conductor.
Apart from that, it's BC/ES not SBC/SES0 -
I assume then that there is no way of doing this, even if I was to take the fitting apart?[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

No,
You would be better off selling the "free" bulbs on ebay or similar and then buying some of the correct ones.0 -

oops,, take it you were replying to me as I was the post above, about 16
hours previous, good job then that the OP didn't rush out and get some.
For my ignorance,, could you please explain the difference between
BC/ES and SBC/SES.
Thanks.0 -
BC = Bayonet Cap
ES = Edison Screw
SBC & SES = Small versions of above.
ES and SES lamps MUST have the live conductor connected to the centre contact and the Neutral to the thread.0 -

the issue of fixed wiring/accessories aside, the requirement for ES live=centre pin applies regardless.0
