Obviously, you would be better getting to the root of the problem...maybe a visit to the vet to ask why he is so smelly?

I don't think he is particularly smelly compared to other dogs but I am struggling with readjusting to puppy house training, having a male instead of a !!!!! and having a dog who smells like a dog rather than my staffy who doesn't smell.

I think I have probably just had a very easy time of it with my staffy as she requires minimal washing, grooming and mud and smells etc just seem to fall off her.

I love the idea of the charcoal bicketts and the odour granules so will give them both a try and maybe invest in rubber car mats. thanks very much for the tips.

A vet I visited once sold these aroma candles which were designed to deal with pet smells. They were handmade and seem to work. I only brought one as I wasn't sure over it to be honest. I guess you, your house and car smelling of dog is one of the many joys of having a dog!

Sorry just to add that the candles did work but I can't remember the name of them or which vet it was. I guess any aroma candles would work. Have you tried shake n vac that also works well?

We have a plug in in the hall right by the front door so thats what people smell when they first come in anyway.
But you're right, boy wee smeels a lot worse than girl wee, no idea why but thats what i found out the hard way.
Keep him and his bits clean with a baby wipe every day and match candles, granules etc to one smell or fragrance or it all gets a bit much and doesnt conquer the puppy pong anyway.
And be careful with shake n vac/neutradol as it can cause skin irritants to pups.
Do the dogs go into the boot or car interior? If the boot, try a kids duvet/sleeping bag for them to lie on. Stops a lot of the smell/mud/fox poo getting into the car and when washed, smells of comfort and really does help.
It aint over til I've done singing....

You can buy covers for your car. We have them on every seat - they get pretty messy with mud and hair but at least you can take them out and wash them - they are heavy plasticy type of stuff. Hairs in the car are more of a problem. Little one will sit on the parcel shelf and the hairs get into the fabric. Local garage reckons a £50 valet would do the job though.

don't know if this is fact but i have found that puppys smell far more than adult dogs. we have an 8 month old pup and the smell off her when we first got her was almost overwhelming, but it is gradually diminishing with time.
my mother - who is not backwards with her opinions said at xmas the house 'stank of puppy' but on her latest royal visit a few days ago said she could not smell her anymore.
so it could be that your rottie is not any more smellier that the staff but still has his puppy smell
