council tax ccj

hi, over christmas i fell behind with council tax payments, was 2 months in arrears, so thought i'd just continue to pay in feb and march, and the debt would be cleared.
had no contact from council complaining on late payment.. then they wrote in mid feb saying they were taking me to court for the outstanding balance.
i rang up and explained i was making the final payment in march, as it was set up standing order (sorting out our finances since reading this forum)
council said it wasnt good enough, id fallen behind with payments in past (then double paid the month after it happened to catch up)
so anyway, court date was set, feb 24th... council knew i was settling account march 1st (pay day)...
so now the account should be clear but i got a letter stating theres a liability order to claim the court costs and the cost of the liability order.
roughly how long do i have to pay this £62?
im a little skint, lost job, starting new one tomorrow (only out of work 2 weeks thank god).
why is my council so unhelpful??
anyone else had similar problems?

Nope, never. What has obviously happened in your case is you hit the '3 strikes rule'. You missed two payments, assuming you didn't inform the council you were going to, had a final and third warning and so on.
So, let's get this clarified shall we?
Are you saying you DID clear this debt and the council STILL continued to pursue you as it's very hard to understand what you are actually saying TBH. Or what?so thought i'd just continue to pay in feb and march, and the debt would be cleared.
Er, because you missed two payments. And obviously didn't tell them you did.why is my council so unhelpful??
Oh, and out of curiosity WHICH council is this?Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Was it Birmingham Council? they issue straight away.
Ask them to set up a repayment plan.0 -
Going on what they said in the Moorcroft thread ... I am not so sure.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Birmingham use Equita. They allow repayment plans.0

Well, no idea just curious. Different councils/strokes etc. Anyway, never had CTX arrears so can't really offer any other stuff. Except for the final demand thing, of course. That process.
Would be nice, though, if they actually replied then I wouldn't be so suss of them. Being as I have a debt with MC for that exact same amount.:rotfl:roughly how long do i have to pay this £62?

Council tax is so easy to fall behind on though - it's stupidly expensive. I am all for means testing.0

at last an intelligent post on this thread that isn't laced with sarcasm!! :beer:SolicitorMidlands wrote: »Council tax is so easy to fall behind on though - it's stupidly expensive. I am all for means testing.0 -
Well, Dotstar24 ... no one was being sarcastic.
Sorry you feel that way. Because not everything that occurs online is quite how you perceive it to be. And maybe people have VERY good reasons to question things a lot when they see certain things. Oh, well, whatever. Live and learn. Never mind.
And now you are on that other thread. Perhaps you are not aware of things, but possibly you are not aware that debt collecting agencies do read and post occassionally on consumer forums. But you know, bit funny when the exact amount of debt - and no two people could have the same amount shall we say given certain things like fees, charges and so on - is mentioned and that debt happens to be with MC. Not saying it is, but sorry but this sort of things does happen on consumer forums. And I am not just saying it for myself but others have had it as well.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return.
