Don't think of it as losing the survey fee, think of it as escaping form house of doom!
lol... thanks!!0 -
Hi Charliee
I think I am with the others on this and I would probably run a mile from a survey like that! However its really dependant on how much you love the house, and how much work can you afford to take on!
As for the mortgage might be worth speaking to your lender/finance advisor? We were buying a property which we had a mortgage arranged for (with Abbey), and then our vendors pulled outLuckily we found a 2nd house, and were able to transfer the mortgage offer from the 1st to the 2nd no problem. I think it depends on the lenders T's & C's though - but it must be possible!
Good Luck!

mind you he says the neighbour was very nice and told him about the water fights in the summer and the bbq's so it sounds like a nice neghbourhood to live in...
Water fights, BBQs.... Doesn;t always mean it's a nice neigbourhood. Think of your dry washing on the line that is now wet washing from the water bombs and also stinks of BBQ smoke because no-one bothered telling you they were lighting up.
Sounds awful to me.
RE the survy results.... Are you still there? I'd have thought you'd have run a mile by now!I love giving home made gifts, which one of my children would you like?:A

hmmmm.... its not looking good is it.. we had a budget of 6k for fixing it up, we reckoned 4k for the heating, 1k for carpets and decor, 1k to knock down a wall and poss put up another stud wall to make a small study and then replace the kitchen cupboard doors to freshen that up in the short term... the asbestos alone is probably going to blow most of that and the repairs to the utility room extension (which was one of the things we really liked, so just demolishing it wouldnt really be a solution) and the electrics and the floor and the double glazing....
i think we'll have to pull out.. unless they come down by about another 10k but is it worth it??.. i dont know.... i'll wait till survey comes and see the full picture and costs and valuations... i can see it could be a really nice family house, thats the annoying thing... i've put everything on hold and i spoke to the mortage company and they said that all we would have to pay is another £199 for a new valuation on the new house to transfer it, so not too bad in the grand scheme of things..
sigh...0
