*****specific to Northern Ireland**** as i am not sure which companies cover car insurance in NI ******************8
My daughter has been driving our car on and off but now has a job and needs her own car for work.
Are there any companies who will insure her in her own name but allow her for the fact she has been named on our policy for 4 years.
would it bring her premium down if myself and my hubby were named drivers on her policy as we would like to drive her car sometimes too.?
can anyone advise ?

Hi I was on my mums policy for two years before I got my own insurance. I got a company in Carrick called Prestige- they are specifically for women and I got fully comp for a year for £650 which was great for my first year driving.
They took into account my experience. Quinn Direct who my insurance had been with for two years and they quoted me over £1200! Phone Abbey, that's who got me the quote from Prestige0 -
Is that Abbey Insurance ?0

Phone Hughes, very helpful I found.

have a search on this forum, there is a big car insurance thread, at least it will give you an idea of who quote for NI.

Hi - my son passed his driving test in the summer aged 17 (nearly collapsed with surprise - didn't expect him to get through first time!) - we rang round several insurers and found Hughes Insurance to be by far the most helpful AND the cheapest for young drivers. They put my husband on as a second named driver (didn't bother putting me on but could have if I'd wanted) which brought premium down; useful also as it means he can drive it any time he wants - they also asked about hubbys job and as a civil servant that gave another discount. Very knowledgeable - just ring them up rather than trying to do a quote online. They also allow you to pay monthly at very little extra cost, and the premium is paid over 11 months, so I get one month free (roll on June!). The premium also included breakdown/repair cover so we were able to exclude him from our AA cover which was a further saving - and gave us peace of mind in case as an inexperienced driver he breaks down away from home - it even covers tyre punctures!! (I don't work for Hughes by the way..... lol)0

it seems to be more expensive for Boys than girls. I will check Hughes abbey and prestige to start. It would be great if she could get her own insurance and start building up her bonus.would be even better if they would take into consideration the fact that she has been driving my car for 4 years tho.0 -

I was with Quinn Direct for years with wife as named driver. Got quote for her when she got her own car and Quinns were twice what we eventually got it through Hughs for.
Seriously I would really recommend Hughs... really helpful in the branch (Portadown) and no problems at all. (even got it cheaper in the branch than what I had been quoted online on their website so worth calling or popping into their local branch).
(Also NOT an employee of Hughs:rotfl: :rotfl: )0
