10 Days to get a survey done....is this normal?

First timer buyer here!!...hope someone can advise!!....
Just had an offer accepted on a house, and the EA has stated this offer is subject to us getting a survey done in 10 days? Is this normally what happens after an offer has been accepted?
The EA also said they will continue marketing the property until the survey has been done?....This seems alittle unfair to me, as I spoke to the bank who said it usually takes 2 weeks or more to get the mortgage approved!...so they can't do arrange the valuation until the mortgage is approved! (We also have to get the valuation/survey done by the bank)
Is this normally what is asked from the EA?...
I feel really pressured to get this survey done! But since I have to pay the bank for the valuation, I don't want to pay again for 2nd survey done to meet the EA's deadline!!...if you know what I mean!!
Thanks!!
I would either go mutually exclusive or not exclusive on either side. Book to see another house with that agent and tell them you are looking at several that day, unless they take the house you have offered on off the market.0 -
I had a offer on my house from 2 different people on the same day both for the asking price (it was 2003) so i refused to take it off the market and said i would go with the first to pay for a suveyor and i promised to keep both buyers informed of the others plans. First surveyor came within a week so accepted and withdrew house. The buyer never had anything in place financially and took months of broken promises while they were trying to get a mortgage very nearly lost our house because of it (we had to pay 10k more to buy it)very stressful time. Happened to meet other buyer months and i was explaining to him the problems we had and i was sorry that they never got the surveyor in first only for him to say they never intended to buy it they just put in a offer to see if we accept it and they offered about 10 in the month of viewing our house. Without following up any. ?? Lost for words:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
