I e-mailed an order for Premium Home Broadband to O2 late Monday afternoon, my acknowledgment was timed at 1700.
At 1800 Tuesday I received an e-mail saying that the service was up-and-running.
This morning the router arrived, after connecting up and loading software all was working by 1030.

Well I wish you luck with your speeds with O2 as I am sorry to say that since we joined in October the service has been terrible. At peak times you are lucky if you get 500kbs. Last night it was 272Kbs. We have complained (politely) and all we keep getting told is they are working on it. Well they have been working on it since November and it it getting worse. So we are paying our £50 to be released from the contract as we cannot put up with it any more.
There is a 24 page thread on another forum, with many people all having the same problem. I think they are a vicitm of their own success and too many people have joined and now they cannot cope with the demand.
Good luck. The best things in life are free.....0 -
We've been subscribing to O2 broadband for several months now and have nothing but praise for them. The migration went speedily and efficiently and their help staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
We are on their middle band and get speeds of between 10 and 12 meg constantly. All this for under a tenner a month, providing we top up our O2 mobile with £10 every 3 months.
In my opinion, they are fantastic.
Good luck0 -
Unfortunately our exchange is not up to those speeds yet but we should be getting 4megs. We are also paying £17.30 per month for less than half a meg.
It seems crazy, customers getting 10 and 12 meg paying less than £10 yet customers getting less than half a meg paying £17.30!! Something not quite right there

I agree sugarbabes. Would it be worth changing your mobile contract to get the cheaper rates?
Hope you manage to achieve the higher speeds.0 -
Our mobile contracts are with O2, both mine and hubby's!! We cannot get the middle band as our exchange has not been upgraded here in Aberdeenshire.
Unfortunatley I am stuck in a 16 month contract with O2 as I have just renewed my phone. Hubby is on a one month contract but will be moving away due to their failure to address and so something about the terrible service we are receiving with broadband. I am afraid to say we never got off to a good start with them as they failed to send the text to say we were connected and left us without any connection for 18 hours!!
We also suffer disconnections regularly. So it is time to move on. We are off to IDnet and have obtained the MAC code from O2 so have set the ball rolling. The best things in life are free.....0 -

Good luck.
This is actually my second O2 BB line.
The reason I went to them again is because of their performance on the existing line.
Just done a speed test, my download speed is 12.5mbs, which is about what it normally is, VERY rare that it drops below 10mbs.. For under a tenner a month I'm not complaining !0 -

It seems to make a huge difference if your exchange has been upgraded to ADSL 2 or whatever its name is. I wouldn't recommend O2 if it hasn't been upgraded but if it has I've heard nothing but praise using their upgraded service and works out at 90p a month for 8MB after quidco to me thats a bargain! :T0 -

I've just posted on another o2 thread about this - the last month has been a nightmare. Suffer disconnections all the time, and most of the time can't get onto it at all during peak times. They tried telling me it's because I use an extension lead from the main phone box but that's never caused us problems before. They also asked us to change filters. It's just strange that when used off peak there are none of these problems but we're rarely home at these times...
Has anyone had any luck complaining to them and getting some discount for this? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The issue with o2 is you either enjoy it or loathe it...theres no in-between. When I first joined the service was always fluctuating and very slow,as time went on I dont even have cause to complain cos I'm comfortabkle with the 7meg I get constantly. You can't keep a good man down...0

I have read on another forum that a couple of people have had the £50 release waived and also just the other day someone posted they had been given free Broadband until July!.
We have politely asked for either free get of jail card or a reduction in our £17 odd, to which they have constantly refused.
Yes we entered into a contract but they are certainly NOT delivering what is promised therefore we feel we should be free to leave or they should reduce our costs. So as a result we will take £45 worth of phone contracts away from them as well.
