Having gas installed in property - how do we find/choose cheapest provider?

We are having gas installed in the property we have just bought and need to choose a supplier. How do I find the cheapest as I have no gas to compare prices with? Also we are on economy 10 at the moment and won't be having gas heating put in until late summer, should I put off changing electric supplier until this is done? Again I can't compare prices as we don't know how much we are using yet.

I favour Southern for new gas supplies and metering (I have used them hundreds of times!)- their new connections team in Cardiff are excellent. I am not sure if I can post their number here.
(I amsure someone will clarify shortly)
Not sure what region you are in but their gas prices are generally good. If not cheapest just swop it later when you have more info.

They support Econ 10 but again check rates. If a saving is to be made NOW why would you want to wait till late summer to get it?

Thanks very much for the advice, I'll look them up. We will get the gas installed in the property but won't be getting the pipes and radiators put in until our extension is done, that's why we have to wait until late summer.
