All,
I purchased an ASUS graphics card from an online retailer (lambdatek), the retailer and manufacture both advertise a 3 year warranty for the product this is also covered on the ASUS website. http://support.asus.com/repair/repair.aspx?no=201&SLanguage=en-us
The card failed after the first year so after and a long debate with the supplier they have finally agreed to accept the product back for RMA at the cost of £20. I'm not sure whether the warranty would/could mandate a charge to support the 3 year warranty. This £20 is to process the return, I also need to pay for a courier to return the product to them
My questions is given that this is an additional warranty offered by the manufacturer is it still covered by the same faulty goods clause within the SoGA? I would imagine it is because by offering a warranty over 3 years they are implying that their product should last this long and therefore any failure within that peroid should be dealt with as per a faulty product?
cheers

Not sure if my first post is very clear so here it is again:
1. I have a graphics card that I purchased with a 3 year warranty
2. It has failed within that period (actually just over a year after purchase) so I am now trying to get it replaced
3. The supplier is telling me that I need to pay £20 to them to process the return and that I need to pay for a courier to send the product to them so that they can actually process it
What are my rights if any? Are they able to wrap this 3 year warranty with whatever restrictions they choose?0 -
I had a pice of electronics bust in the past replaced under warranty.
When the second one failed I tried to return it but was refused.
apparently my warranty was for the original one (which I no longer had as it had been replaced) so they rejected my claim.
It wasn't for much so I didn't follow it up.0 -
It depends how the warranty is exactly worded. Although for the sake of £20 it's probably not worth it, although the company knows that too..
And yes, you do lose some rights when a product is replaced I've heard it said it's often best to get a refund and repurchase if at all possible.0
