Presumably you are thinking of the environment as well as your heating bills when opting for an energy efficient home? If so then you should consider the environmental impact of wasting a prefectly good house (or repairable house at least) in order to use up more of the earths resources building a new one. Recycle if you can in my opinion!

Whatever you do I am sure you will end up with a lovely home. Good Luck

As I mentioned before claz try contacting Solar Century as they will know what grants are available. I remember when I looked into it a few years ago you could have your whole roof replaced with solar cells (looks like slate). The other option was just have the standard panels on part of the roof.

You are totally right Gem_, why waste a perfectly good house and waste resources! You manage to convey the message I wanted to get across. Cheers! :)
