Hi folks,
The last 3 times I've turned my computer on I've had this message on a blue screen.
"The volume that was removed had open files on it, next time please check first to see if the volume can really be moved".........Press any key etc.
When key pressed this came up.
"The file system mounted on the volume had data that needed to be flushed. Some data on the volume was lost. Next time please check first to see if the volume can really be removed"...............Press any key etc.
When key pressed ........another blue screen with........
"Afatal exception has occurred at 016F:BFF9DFFF..........Press ctrl, alt del etc.
The computer has been turned off normally as it should be without anything still running as it always is.
I had to restart the computer 4 times the 1st time it happened and 3 times on the second and third occassion before it started correctly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated preferrably in very simple english.
Thanks

http://www.softsynth.com/jsyn/support/removed_error.html
Looks like its caused by a buggy hard drive controller.0 -
Your right T4i , it's Windows 98SE.0

Tried the link but couldn't make any sense of it.
It's happened everytime I've turned it on since I posted my first question.
Is it possible to stop this problem ?
Any help please ?

Are you shutting it down with start shutdown before switching it off? It could be a spurious message (As T4i's post suggests), but if it has just started happening, then check you hard disk out with scandisk, just in case, and back up any important data for the same reason..
If it has been moved recently, check that the ide cable hasn't come loose, inside the case.
Are you using any external usb hard disks or usb keys?
Also, it may be a good idea to run windowsupdate now, to get any new drivers and patches. Win98 support is going to be dropped from the microsoft site in the next couple of months, so get the patches now, while you can.
Are you ok in the antivirus/spyware department?
A futher option is to use scanreg /restore from dos mode, this will put the registry to the state it was upto 5 days ago..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
