First Direct Easyswitch service problems

I have moved from A&L to FD, and currently have about £20 in my A&L account, having moved everything into my FD account. They gave me a completion date for moving all my DD's and SO's of the 25th March. I get paid on the 26th and that's when all my DD's come out.

I saw that they had switched my only SO, but no DD's appeared in my list. I was a bit concerned so called them, and they then wanted to move the date back five days. No good to me as my salary goes into the FD account on the 26th and the A&L account will have £20 in it to pay over £1000 of DD's! They told me if there are any problems to phone them, but I might want to call Abbey to change the payment details myself.

In fact, I've contacted everyone and not one of them has been informed of the new details and most of them need ten days notice, leaving me up the creek. It is also too late for work to change the salary payment details back to A&L, so what do I do? I'm now looking to get hit by £25 or whatever it is for each failed DD. I assume FD will pick up the bill for this? Will I get default notices against me?

So much for Easyswitch, it's causing me a right headache.

If they both do fast payments you could get your salary transferred from the First Direct to you old account as soon as its paid in. In fact you could tell them to do it by CHAPS at their cost which should guarantee it arrives in time.
