I wouldn't imagine so. It uses Stereo RCA (White and Red leads) for it's inputs, so you'd need to pair it up with a preamp if you wanted to use a Microphone with it for recording.

Is it for music purposes or general purpose use?
  • Yeah you can plug in a 3.5mm mic jack pretty much every sound card made has these kinds of input and you can see that on the board in the link you posted

This is a proper audio production soundcard so it doesn't cater for bog standard consumer mics with small jacks.

There is no 3.5mm jack on that card, in or out. That's a proper piece of kit, not intended for 3.5mm toy mics, they just wouldn't do that card justice.

yep this is for music purposes.

i use a sm58 mic- xlr to jack cable with a 3.5mm jack adaptor.

I have a dell dimension e520 pc with standard soundcard, there are headphone and mic inputs on the back of the pc and the front of the pc.

If i replace the card with this one will i still be able to plug the mic in the front of the pc and get sound? hmm:confused:

    thanks

No you won't - you can't have two active soundcards. You'll need to get a mic pre amp as well or perhaps a small mixer. The alternative is to get a small external audio interface with a mic input. Both options are going to far better than using the mic input built into the PC.

And anyway, a mic of that quality really needs a proper audio mixer or preamp to make it worth using. Why would you send the signal from a proper vocal mic down an unshielded 3.5mm jack?
