1,000 Nectar points when you open an Internet Saver account

Got an e-mailshot from Nectar, you get a 1,000 points when you sign up for their internet saver account..

the link takes you to http://www.sainsburysbank.co.uk/savings/sav_internetsaver_is_skip.shtml

but doesnt mention the 1,000 free nectar points!

However from the email,

Important Information

*1,000 Nectar points available when you open a savings account before 31/05/06. New customers only. Not redeemable in store.

4.75% AER/gross p.a. AER stands for annual equivalent rate and illustrates what the interest would be if interest was paid and compounded each year. The gross rate is the contractual rate of interest payable before the deduction of income tax at the rate specified by law (currently 20%). Net is the rate of interest paid after the deduction of lower rate tax at 20%. Variable interest paid annually. Withdrawals are by transfer to another account only.

  • What are 1000 nectar points worth to me, desiman? £10? £5?

These loyalty cards change the rules so often, I lose track.

    The rate isn't too bad.

Depends what you use them for but generally it's 1000 points = £5.00 (for use in Argos etc.)

I use them for blockbuster rentals so that is worth £7.50 to me

The account only has a £1 minimum deposit, so £5 worth of vouchers seems like manna from heaven. Is there some verification (or code?) for the points offer?

Sorry folks I cant see on the email whether theres any code.

Even if you click on the links, it doesnt specifically mention the 1,000 free points again on the sainsburys site which leads me to cant help but think itll be a hassle getting the free points once the account is open

I've forwarded the email to S_a_r_a, if anyone else wants me to fwd it, PM me.

On my email it also says at the bottom

'1,000 Nectar points available when you open a savings account before 31/05/06. New customers only. Not redeemable in store.'

I take this to mean you can only use them online!

If I have a old sainburys instant access account will I still qualify for 1,000 nectar points as a new customer?
