Parcelforce = Parceltheft?

I did not say I agreed with it, I was sharing my experience of people I know who work in sorting offices and what they said and did in my local pub0

I used to work with a lad who regularly tried to sell 'off the back of a lorry' items - his stepfather worked for a parcel carrier (TNT or Fedex) and the drivers etc had a system whereby they'd 'lose' parcels that obviously contained things they could sell, but that their bosses were not too concerned as they were covered by insurance.
My boss banned this lad from selling these knock-off items in work and subsequently had to sack him for stealing from us!0 -

As has been pointed out already, their letter should serve as proof that the laptop was stolen somewhere in its journey, which will hopefully help expedite the insurance claim.
Yes, i know this is correct - i understand that PF has to protect themselves. i came back after a period of time away from the computer & now see that my post was a bit off the rails.
At any rate, i was more irked by their tone than anything else. It was a situation where i would have been calmed by reading something less rhetorical, if that makes any sense.
With regard to the poster questioning the security of US priority mail - i'm not positive, but i think it's the second-best service for parcels. Express is the quickest, but it's at most 1-2 days quicker when posting to the UK, so it's hard to justify the higher price. However, priority mail is able to be tracked online (that's how we knew it sat in the depot as long as it did) & his parents did insure the parcel for the appropriate amount.
i don't know why they didn't use Fedex or UPS - those seem more logical choices to me for posting a computer. i know things get nicked there too, but i've usually had good experiences with them.
We've initiated the claim process - hopefully we're able to get the money back. Thanks for reading my rant, mad as it was.
