You should be honest.
Firstly they will know if you aren't being honest as they have skills in that.
Secondly they might think it was negligent to attempt moving the TV on your own, so you are wasting your time trying to second guess what you are up to.
It's quite normal for them to ask questions to rule out fraudulent claims.
The only way you can deal with it is to be honest.
If you are honest then you should have nothing to fear and yes there are appeals and complaints procedures you can follow.0 -
Hi,
I agree, be honest. Also, I don't think there will be a problem.
Let us look at the case: you and your brother are moving a TV. You are covered for accidental damage to the property - this generaly means that you are covered for any accidental loss except those that are specificaly excluded in the policy. It should not matter who accidentaly damages that property. Check the policy wording to see what the conditions are for that section.
If you lie, you will be comitting fraud, and if that later comes to light it could invalidate both your claim and your policy, regardless of the incident.
In this case they may want to understand if anyone else can be held legaly liable though negligence. If this were the case they could recover the cost of the damage from that person. However, you are at fault because you dropped the TV, so this should not be a problem.
As Lisyloo says, questions are asked to rule out fraudulent claims because so many are recevied for accidental damage, particulalry electrical equipment.0 -
Thanks ive told them my brother was helping in the policy the insured has my name on the policy but the wording states
INSURED/you/your means person named on the policy for which cover has been accepted and any member of your family perminantly residing at your home.
im hoping that means my brother too thanks for the info0 -
If he lives there perminantly then yes it does, but even if not that does not necessarily mean he will not be covered in this incident. What is important is the wording of the accidental damage section. You have told them which is good, we will see what happens!!0
