Hi. I am so mad and annoyed I could spit!
I just went to the Britannia, saw a lovely helpfull lady, who gave almost no advice,
Went to the Nationwide, and saw a spotty boy who gave even less advice.
Ok the story, last August I had 7K to invest. My bank, First Direct, said it was too small to invest (I have no ISA's), my husbands bank Alliance & L, said the same, so we spent it..every last penny, we had a great couple of months.
I now have 14K, and I am getting the same story, open an ISA or two, you can tie it up in bonds or instant access, either way its not much money in interest, so spend it! WHAT??
AND I asked for a small savings account to put small regular amounts into so that if I do tie up our 14K, I have a nest egg I can get at. Interest rates are naff I know, but I get cheques for £40-£50 I want to keep out of my bank account. But no..can't do that unless its regularly £100 or more a month.
Anyone out there got any sensible advice...? Thanks
