RainX - easy to apply?

I have been recommended to use RainX on my car windscreen so I've bought some.

Does anyone have any experiences of using it and any tips on how to apply it? I've only just been to Halfords to buy it using the £1.50 off voucher from RainX website so I haven't read the 'small print', and it is small print!

I also bought some of the RainX to put in the washer bottle. Any advice would be grateful, thanks.

  • Yes, its dead easy, no different to using a common glass cleaning product.

I find that it prefers to be put on in colder weather as it evaporates quickly and smears if applied in direct sunlight. I would also advise wearing a glove as it dries out your hands. I use kitchen towels for the application rather than a cloth. Once you have done the screen run the towel/cloth along the wiper blade edge too.

  • yes its excellent stuff

clean the windscreen really well first then dry before applying

I find on a new screen it takes a couple of weeks to work really well

keep re applying in small doses each couple of weeks

I found tesco was cheaper than halfords even after the £1.50 discount

i always apply to a clean screen with a piece of kitchen towel , make sure you get all the corners etc

let it sit for a few mins then wash the glass with cold water and rinse , then dry with a towel /leather

do the side glass as well , it self dries over 30-40 mph

+ Headlights and mirrors - there is normally enough residue on the towel after doing the screen to do these.

Rain-X - like the product but not on my windscreen.
I find that in the dark you get a smear trail behind the wiper blade as it wipes a few inches long which obscures vision, especially with on coming car headlights shining at you.
I do use Rain-X on headlight lenses (stay clean for longer) and all the other winodws as it does help a lot to keep them clear in the rain.

Not hard to apply, just follow instructions on the bottle.
