How much money do you need to be happy?

I wonder if people with flash cars judge others by thier car, say when arriving at a wedding or something?
I used to have flash cars but they didn't make me happy. Now I drive a modest car people react differently to me, which is incredibly shallow of them.
Almost certainly.
I wouldn't be seen dead in an old rust bucket:D0 -
Bill Gates is for me ok, as he is in the process of giving most of it away.
How can Bono sleep at night knowing his half a billion would make a huge real difference to the lives of many
If I had half a billion I would keep £2m and the rest would be given to tohers.
It doesn't matter if the Philippine Govt have caused those tots to live on the motorway, all that matters is I do the right thing, end of.0 -
When I see a flash car I sometimes think "wonder what hole in their life that's attempting to fill?".
The most pathetic thing is personalised number plates. Almost the definition of more money than sense. What do you buy if you've run out of things that actually make you happier? Do you give some money to charity to stop someone in the third world from going blind? No, you get your name on your numberplate. Lame. Totally lame.0 -

Yes, that's a very easy thing to say on an internet forum. All very noble blah blah blah.
But it's a pretty empty statement, isn't it?
Here's another. I'm going to prove I'm even more altruistic than you. If I had a BILLION, I'd give away everything except £500,000.
There, that makes me feel really good about myself and - in the process - I've categorically proven that I am about eight times a nicer person than you.
Can anyone beat me?0 -

Agree.
Flash people I avoid. They don't fool me. I could work harder and collect more chattels, but what a pointless activity, that proves nothing other than one up manship.
I like a nice life, but not excessive, and nowt to prove to anyone.0 -

I don't know where money goes
Our joint income sounds pretty good (more than many have said they need to be happy), but we certainly don't lead a lavish lifestyle on it
For us not to need to work, it would have to be 50k after tax.
Any money saved in not working you would spend in free time.
For me to be really happy, double it:D0 -

Hey man, why the anger?
I couldn't care what people on this forum think. I lead my life as I see fit. I don't think it's meaningful to collect wealth, bigger homes and so. I am not a hippy, afterall, I am buying a modest villa for investment.
I have zero respect for people like Poshspice who actively seek to ensnare a grossly disproportionate share of the worlds gifts. Does she not think about life on a deeper level that that:rolleyes:0
