Hovis are doing 2 bread mixes for £1 at Asda. That's 2 x 2lb loaves for a £1 and it bakes very well. I bake my own bread daily usually from traditional strong flour and yeast, but you can't tell the difference between the two with the Hovis mixes and I highly recommend the wholemeal and mixed grain.

I have to agree, they are lovely. I stopped using my breadmaker as it didn't taste like proper bread but using these it is so simple and the results are great. I'm just waiting for my loaf to bake at the moment, it's always a race to get the heel as it is so crunchy. :T

Try this with their wholemeal mix.

When finished mixing roll it out as thin as you can and sprinkle it with a very mature cheese. Roll it up and tuck it under and leave it to rise in your loaf tin. It lasts about 5 mins in my house:D

  • We eityher go mad for bread and demolish a loaf in a day or the loaf goes off as its barely touched for a week! (there's only me and OH)

Anyhoo - I just LOVE Morrisons superlife wholemeal - it actually has some substance for it and lasts for up to a week - even if it's been opened - not sure of the price offhand as I'm low carbing and OH has gone onto baps for his pack up but am sure it's under 80p for a large loaf
