Hi all, have just been to do my shopping for the week but it should last at least 2 weeks really, according to my receipt using vouchers, bogofs, reductions etc, got £43 worth of food but it was only £29:j so very happy with that, didn't really want to spend that much but needed to spend £30 to use £3 voucher. I am thinking about getting a little piggy bank to put in my food cupboard to put all the money I save on food shopping into, as an incentive to spend sensibly. :D

I have bought shoes:o:D. I need to justify them. I have been drooling over them for ever, they have been reduced from £65 to £35, I know they fit as I ordered them once and sent them back as I couldn't really justify £65 and I got quite a bit of work lined up today and I did promise myself I would get them if I got the work and I am taking some trousers back at the weekend which were £40 so that will cover it anyway. So there. :D

    So for today:
    • saved £14 on food shopping:j
    • got 64 nectar points and should get 200 bonus points shortly
    • cancelled car insurance before they renew it
    • coins in piggy
    • £2 coin in pot
    • 5p piggy click:rolleyes:
    • checked quidco
    • got some more work lined up
    • put £350 into ISA
    • free coffee and toast in work
    • checked online banking (gulp)
    • food was coffees, toast, roast beef sandwich, banana, yoghurt and going to have baked potato, cheese and fruit salad now
    • litre of water and vitamins
    • new shoes:j:o
    • will do some tidying later
    • realised actual saving on car insurance is £14, not a lot but every bit helps:D
    • remembered to order prescription
Hope everyone is having a good day .icon7.gif

She did sort of sneak that in there - didn't she ?

Must admit I got an e-mail from Office today about their sale & for some reason as I was "browsing" I thought of Sarah - still maintain it was at her suggestion that I ended up visting the Clarks sale & buying some purple ankle boots :rotfl:
Which all my mates like btw :T

Yay! Sounds like a great day Sarah. Mine has gone pretty well too. My unexpected expenses were unexpectedly cheaper than I thought. Just hoping my boiler repair doesn't cost too much later this week and I will be (just about) ok.

Payday tomorrow! I can't tell you how excited I am. Quite worried I've already spent it though, so will have to be v.careful. Repeat 'I shall not have 2 weeks as a princess and 2 as a pauper' until it sinks in.

Sarah - Where do you find these vouchers and stuff for food shopping? This is one area where I really need to spend less and if I'm honest, I don't want to compromise on what I'm eating. That said, I'm going to investigate Poundland this weekend for teabags and stuff like that and Aldi for fruit and veg as I've heard it's good and cheap, but any other tips would be good.

I don't think you need to justify the shoes Sarah. You're debt free! You're saving and putting money in ISA's. You deserve a little treat every now and then, everybody does, otherwise we'd end up right miserable. I think I'm currently learning what the word 'treat' means. I used to just buy stuff and now I'm thinking so much more carefully before I buy anything and making sure I make the most of any 'treat money' I have.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I think I justified them very well indeed:D I am being very careful now though, as any money I spend belongs to me and not Mr Barclaycard, so I have to be sensible. Luckily they are an investment, as they will last.:D

Definitely give the red shoes your address. :D Or the gold.:D

Thank you :A & please join in anytime :D

I'm trying so hard to be sensible these days & it is soooooo tedious, I'm sure that I am well overdue for a bit of drunken rambling with typodyslexia ... am holding off until DD1 moves on again. Funny & just a tad scary how when she first arrived she was full of excitement over her new flat & couldnt wait to move in ... hasnt been mentioned for a while  _pale_

I got some vouchers for money off through the post from Sainsbury's, plus I took great care to look for all the red symbols on the shelves alerting me to bogofs, buy 2 for £2, reductions, etc. Was in there for ages. Usually just whizz round. Today I was trying really hard to get as much as I could for as little as possible, I hardly bought anything for full price.

I was aiming for £30 so I could use the voucher, it involved a lot of stopping and adding up. It is quite time consuming but I remember going in every week, spending £40-50 and throwing half of it out at the end of the week :o so it was worth spending a bit of extra time.

For example was going to get some of the basics biscuits as I don't eat a lot of them but sometimes take them to work, but the hob nobs were on offer:j and actually cheaper than the basic stuff and loads nicer.:D I usually wouldn't bother to check. I did have a basic meal plan in my head but I looked at how all the bargain things would fit into it rather than strictly sticking to my list.

I buy lots of the basic own brand as well, I was spending loads on yoghurt, fruit, frozen veg, cleaning stuff, crisps, snacks, nuts, when the basics are usually just as good. Just that has really cut my bills down. My cupboards look a bit boring though. :D

Make sure you check the old style board, those people are amazing.:D
