MSE was the inspiration for me to start keeping chickens 17 months ago and they have been a complete joy!

Myself and lots of other chicken keepers want to get pet chickens to be removed from this all encompassing 'livestock' term so that everybody can keep a few chickens in their garden if they want to by signing the following petition!

In my experience chickens and cockerels are a nuisance. They are noisy and if they aren't looked after properly then they can attract vermin to the area. They aren't suitable to be kept in residential areas.

If people want to keep them they should have to get a licence and prove they can look after them properly. But it shouldn't be a right for everyone.

My neighbour had all sorts and they were a nuisance. Nobody likes being woken up at 4am by clucking chickens and loud cockerals. It's massively irritating.

I have four Ex-battery hens and they are the best pets my children have ever had. Guinea pigs and rabbits have just tried to escape their confines and occasionally bitten my children, whereas the chicken can free range round our back garden and they even let the children stroke them.

I would reccommend having 3-4 ex battery hens to everybody. It is not a large enough quantity of hens to cause any disturbance or wreck the garden, no noisy cockerell and you get fabulous eggs everyday. They have bought our family alot of joy.

I have happily signed the petition xxx

Where's the Anti chicken petition? There's usually an anti petition to every petition on that site.
