Please help re: npower huge gas bill
Options
Hi all
Just can't understand my npower bill, have received a letter saying how they worked it out but it doesn't help at all!
The last bill was 5.something p per unit. Units used: 144 and bill was £45
This bill I have used 252 units, 8 p (almost) per unit and the bill is £215!!! I can't understand it. Please help. I don't know what to do - how can it be right??
Thanks all

If you have a metric meter, each unit is approx 11 kwh. If the meter is imperial, each unit is approx 31kwh. Most people pay 3p-5p per kwh (not per meter unit).0

Hi
How do I tell if it's metric or imperial please? it says m3 on it, does that help?MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOUR0 -
m3 is cubic metres so it's metric.
That means you've used approx 2772 kwh. This should work out at about right for your £215 bill but 8p/kwh for gas is expensive - I'm paying less than half of that!0 -
You may have an estimated bill rather than a reading from the meter. Look to see if it has E against the meter reading number. If it does you will need to ask for a form or something so you can read it yourself.
I would also ask them why your price per Kilowat (Kwh) has risen so much and follow the advice on here about switching companies ASAP !0 -
If you are on a seasonally weighted tariff with nPower then the first 882 kWhs per month will be charged at 7 or 8p per month compared to 381 kWhs if spread equally. This means a bill with three winter months will have an extra 1500 kWhs at double the normal price. You will get this money back over summer when fewer units are charged at Tier 1 rates.
The actual total Tier 1 service charge contribution is similar to that you will be charged with other companies.0
