Hi
I have a little fence seperating my runway from my back door measuring approx 4ft one way (inc gate) and about 7ft the other way and about 4ft high. The fence is in a bad way and the wood is rotten.
I want to replace the fence and gate with metal railings but I have no idea how you do this? Who should i call? Do i buy the railings first then call someone?
I am totally clueless! If anyone could help that'd be great! Also an approx idea of price would be ideal!!
Thanks in advance
Claire

search ebay. there are plenty of suppliers on there with prices etc for supply only.
some of them offer a fitting service too.Get some gorm.0 -
Where abouts are you Claire, i know a fair few people in that line of work in various parts of the country.
Prices will vary dramatically, ranging from the sort you can buy in DIY stores, right up to ornate bespoke pieces.
Have a look here for some ideas, a friend of mine, http://www.yorkshiregatesandrailings.co.uk/gallery.asp
A good company will have a design file, that you can use for ideas, then they can make the design work for your intallation.
If you go down the route of getting a fabrication firm or railing specialist to do it, they will most likely do the full package for you manufacture, finishing, and intallation.
If you just wanted railings supplied, you could intsall them yourself. Its not a hard job, posts conceted in, panels bolted in between.
One thing to remember, although the bespoke ones will cost considerably more, they will be far far higher quality, and probably galvanised and painted, so no rust for many many years. Some people dont apreciate the differences like that, and proceed to install flimsy plastic coated gates and railings that cost £30.0 -
