Buying a driving licence
Has anyone bought a drivers licence from one of the internet sites which claim to be able to sell you one using a legal loophole. Someoen I know needs a full drivers licence to drive in the country where they live and they can exchange their provisional for a full licence using a company in Zimbabwe. I know this sounds bizarre but it looks legit so long as the loophole remains open - which is due to be closed end of this year.
I'd really be interested in hearing from anyone who has done this.

So you want someone who is unsafe driving?
I'm sure you can get any document you want if the price is right. Is this a trolling question just to get a rise out of us all?0 -
It's not legit, and wouldn't hold up in court in most countries.
IIRC if you* are a UK citizen you must use a UK driving licence, you can't continue to use a foreign one, and if you're a UK born citizen the police will probably be extremely interested in your Zimbabwian driving licence, especially if you've never been abroad (it could fall under attempting to pervert the course of justice from what I understand, which is a very serious offence).
Basically it's not legal, and wouldn't last 5 minutes in court or even against a cop with basic common sense and knowledge of the law - which allows visitors to the country to use their licences (in many cases) for a limited time - up to 12 months before you have to pass a UK test.
It's also worth remembering that internet sites selling things that are dodgy will often claim that "due to a loophole" they are legal, as it's very unlikely they will ever have to answer to their claims if they are based abroad (a bit like the sites that sell "anti speed camera sprays" for "demo purposes" ((which don't work anyway)), or "show number plates" that are "not for road use").
*Well not "you", but the subject/driver.0 -
The legal 'loophole' is that you ignore the fact it's illegal.0

Yes, it seems dodgy and no I wouldn't want anyone unsafe driving, I was only trying to find out about it on behalf of someone. I think it is best avoided.0
