On the subject of brushes, can anybody recommend a really good large powder/flawless face type brush? I have just bought the Elemental Beauty dumpy powder brush but obviously that's only handbag size. I'm on the lookout for a really big sweep-over-the-face sort of brush if I can find a good one (suitable for use with mineral veil type finishing powder). When it comes down to it I would be prepared to splash out if I have to, but if there is a really good one available for a bargain price then obviously I'd prefer that!

(Also I'm really curious about your username, Sensemaya. Is that as in the orchestral piece by Revueltas?)

    :p Hi LG

Nice to see you on this forum too!:T

The big fan brush is just to finish off the make up. Have you seen youtube enkore? Pretty sure he will have mentioned it.

I too had a spell on QVC recently. Good thing about them is that you can send things back, but I've kept the LG ( same initials ) and I'm going to stay up on 30th to watch her show. But I doubt I will be buying again.

Can buy smashbox on the web. That palette is something else...wicked.

Mr enkore ( bless him ) has now got me on to MAC. Visited Selfridges today...had a quick makeover and purchased their primer...think it's better than spackle...foundation ( forgot the name ) and their red russian lippie.

You are indeed correct. ;) I reckon the Bernstein interpretation is the best. I sat through ' Sin City'...just the once as once was enough...to listen to the music and, if you didn't already know the music well... Well, you wouldn't know you were listening to it.

I would go for that brush set on ebay. Excellent quality and they wash well.

Other than that how about the Smashbox No.29? Mine came with the Halo powder. But it looks like Just Beauty don't stock it. You could try emailing them. They do have No.19 in stock...

And they stock ultimate brushes, although I haven't tried them.

Here is the link to the ebay seller:

    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Stylesicons_Make-Up-Brushes_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ2QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Does not appear to be offering free P&P anymore, but it works out the same price nevertheless.

I chose the brush case with the metal clasp as the wrap round would annoy me.

Edit: I got this one : 350185964870 £11.99 with free P&P. I don't like the fraulein logo on the others.

I now prefer Smashbox Halo compared to the Estee powder for two reasons. The powder itself and sieve system is much better. As it's a pressie I would order through QVC as if the shade is wrong or she doesn't like it, you can send it back. Item number: 224984

Elizabeth Arden does a similar product although I haven't tried it, but she could try it out in the shop..

Alternatively, you could book a makeover for her...MAC make up is great...and let her chose her own.

I would definitely go for those brushes though.

Hi Sensemaya, thanks again for all the recommendations! I can't afford anything else for at least a month anyway :o so I will keep an eye out for stock changes, discount codes etc.

Try listening to the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela playing it ;) I heard them play it live in London on Saturday night :j :j which is one of the reasons it was on my mind and I asked about your username :D

Thank you so much for that. Enjoyed listening to it.

I was in London at the weekend and watched ' Who's afraid of Viginia Woolf' on Saturday, but didn't know the Youth Orchestra were performing. Also watched 'The Lion King' on the Friday.

I can highly recommend 'Woolf'. Just had to see it. Matthew Kelly plays George and considering he used to be a light entertainer, he was just fabulous.Tracey Childs plays Martha, but I bet Kathleen Turner was even better.

It's on at Trafaglar Studios ( Studio 2 ) in Whitehall. Because the studio is so small the audience feels they are in the action too!

Was it the animal hair type brushes you got Sensemaya? That was the ones I chose as oppose to the other syntetic kind as I thought they would be of better quality

    Hi LG

I got the same as the item number: 350185964870

I think some of them might be animal hair. They are excellent quality. Washed them twice now and last night used olive oil ( as recommended by enkore ) and then Liz Earle orange flower hand wash.

Debating whether to purchase a MAC #187 stippling brush or the cheaper version from Coastalscents in the States. I blame it all on enkore!!!!

Mind you that will have to wait because I'm broke at the mo.

At least I have got QVC out of my system now. Tried that Ojon hair tamer and it's cr*ap. Waiting for refund which takes forever. In fact, before my latest obsession with make up, the last time I used QVC was back in 2002. I returned those items too!

It comes up as item ended but does put you on the shop site and when I looked I decided the animal ones must be better than synthetic.

I am a QVC junkie at the mo:o and took delivery of several parcels today. I only get my beauty/skincare and Yankee Candles from there and unfortunately for me they had a Beauty Day the other day!!

I agree about LG. I love her baked stuff and got a fab TSV a while ago and the stuff seems to never go down!! There was a lovely double ended brush as well which is fabby so if you are saying these eBay brushes will be the same quality then I will be very happy :)

Think I will play it safe and go for the brushes. Booking her in for a makeover could cost me some serious injuries!!!!

That made me laugh!!!! Bless you:D

That's strange because the item ends on 2nd May...

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350185964870&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m37.l1313%26satitle%3D350185964870%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1

Can't wait to see LG's next appearance on QVC...30th April, but I don't think I will be purchasing. Wondering whether her TSV will be the same one as on the US site. I was going to try her B 'n' B but got enough foundation now. Thing is with these kits brushes are always included, so you end up with too many. Suppose there is ebay to sell them.

I visited one of their outlet shops recently and there is a lot of cheap tat in there...and no beauty products were available.
