Why do new houses have such small gardens?

It's really p*ssing me off!

Is it the govt, the property companies, or both?

Sorry it's new FSA rules, the garden can't be longer or wider than 3x your height.

Greedy builders yes but those who are the forgotten ones in this greed frenzy are those that own land. These people have made an absolute fortune over the years. The obvious result being builders having continuous price hikes on the most expensive part of the process of building a house.

    Planning allows it.
    Start a campaign against it.

Some council tax band D new builds near me have no back garden. Just two parking spaces.

You can see them on the map - or look at the pics and see through the patio windows to the carparking space!

But if there were minimum garden sizes it would push the price of a house up and significantly!!!! Is that what you would want?

Planning demands it, you aren't allowed to put up houses with big gardens anymore, except in exception circumstances.
  • We are buying a new biuld and our gardens are a large size. It depends on the area they are biulding on.

I think they turned the house around!!!! Look at that long front garden. And would I want to have my dining room looking onto my car. Enjoy the view, while having a dinner party with your friends - you can discuss the colour of your car!

Also, depends on what you call big. (Not saying your garden is not big)

Who cares there are plenty of second hand houses with bigger gardens.

You can have a new house with a big garden, it just costs more. You get what you pay for.
