I work 20 hours a week and expect to earn about £7000 this tax year coming. My husband is just about to start a new job and will be working 40 hours odd per week earning £13,500 this tax year coming. We will have childcare of £72 PW to pay for our daughter at nursery.
Our last years joint income was £12119.00.
Any ideas as to how much help with the childcare costs we might be likely to recieve?just trying to get organised!
Tried entitled to and that said we will recieve the same WTC/CTC as now but does that include the childcare element?all very confussing!!!

Assuming you only have one child and no disability element/over 50 element.
Your gross award for next year (from April) is £10300. For the first year you should get £155pw and after £93.0 -
If you do not update the tax credit people, your new income, then the next year you will have been over paid tax credits to the amount of £62 per week, so your credits for 2010/2011 will only be £31 pw, and not £93.
Hope this help,

How do you work that one out?
They need to inform them of the change in jobs.
But, they will not accrue an overpayment during 2009/10 unless their income is more than £25k over their actual income for 2008/9.
It does not seem that is the case for the OP and therefore Lizzie is correct and the change in income will not affect them until April 2010.0 -
there seems to be so much confussion about who is entitled to what these days!thank you for your posts.TC know about my income and we will update them of my husbands new job as soon as he starts and can get their details. and yes we only have one daughter and we do not have any disabilities.0
