In short,
3 bedroom end terrace house, gas boiler used to heat house and provide hot water for bath / sinks.
electric shower
electric hob
electric oven
cold water dishwasher
washer
dryer (always on)
Reason due to high prices..
The heating is always on, the wife never turns if off and is always set on 18-20 degress with the comments 'im cold'.
Clothes always taken from washer into dryer, never hung out to dry.0 -
Buy your wife a sweater and start taking some responsibility for the laundry?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

just had my quarter gas bill come in. two people in a small new build 4 bed semi, £222! electric was like £80
so £300+ for 3 months, that's £100/month. it must have been those cold winter nights0 -

Who pays the bills?
I constantly remind my missus to make sure she doesn't leave the heating on unecessarily or waste the hot water when she's washing up! Maybe when she has to pay the bills she'll be reminding me...
Oh, forgot to mention 81 days worth in a 3 bed semi :-
Gas - £276
Elec - £98
...and the house hasn't really been exceptionally warm during that time but considering we're both at home with our newborn I guess a high'ish bill is to be expected.0 -

Me..
But i can argue that we need the heating on, as we have a little one, he is now 16months old nearly.0 -
Just wait until you have teenagers ... it can only get worse from now on. And, from distant memory, unless your toddler is not healthy and well, and you don't live in an exceptionally cold, damp house, is he not past the age of needing the heating on any more than the rest of us?0

The recommended temperature for a baby's room is 16 to 18C if memory serves - not nearly so warm as many insist upon.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

When my kids were born late 70's we had no heating just a freezing cold bedroom they are both healthy so I don't think bedrooms need to be warm at all, unless anyone knows better, it was a bit of a nightmare having to get up in the middle of the night though as one was born in December but I don't think I'd have had it any different, we've only had heating put in about 4 years ago and already are getting spoilt, I'm sure we were better off without it0
