Powerpoint on Widescreen laptop

Hiya peeps,

I've got a 15.4 WXGA (widescreen) on my laptop and need to put a powerpoint show on display, but I notice that when I click view show, the left and right wings of my screen are left black.

Is there a way to get the slide to stretch to the full width of my laptop screen because it does make the whole presentation look scruffy with two black bars either side of the slide :(

I've tried the help section on Powerpoint but that darned paperclip doesn't have the foggiest idea...

Cheers!

What graphics card do you have?

Nvidia or ATi? or maybe something different?

This looks like a useful answer: http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00566.htm
    Problem

You have a laptop with a wide-screen display. When you start a PowerPoint slide show, it doesn't fill the screen. Instead, it leaves black on either side. Or maybe it fills the screen but distorts the pictures on your slides.

Can't it fill the screen instead? Without making messes?
    Solution

Yes, it can. PowerPoint will display your slides as large as it can without cropping. If the proportions of the slide don't match the screen proportions, then it can't fill the full screen, ... ... ... (Continued at http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00566.htm)
Alternatively, could you use a seperate monitor and plug it into your laptop's VGA port?

    I hope this helps :)

Have you tried the options under File\Page setup. This lets you set the size for the slides.
  • Cheers, I just went to File>Page Setup and increased the width using trial and error till it filled the screen!!

Nice one guys!! You've got me out of trouble again!! :D
