My husband is currently on gardening leave/pay in leu of notice, after being made redunent. He is not allowed to start another job in the notice period or he loses his redundancy money and has to be availabel to go in to work if they need him to cover holidays or sickness.
His employment officially ends on the 10th April, is there a waiting period for signing on, or should he do it before. Its the easter bank holiday weekend when his job ends.
thanks

Hi there
As far as I know, wait for the final day then ring you have to ring the benefits office/job centre, they then arrange to get back to you, where they do the application on the phone, you can also do this online here:
http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/Customers/WorkingAgeBenefits/Howtoclaim/index.html
Check the site out, as well.
After they ring in regards of the application, they generally then give a date for an appointment at the job centre, then it all happens from there.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
