Best way to lay carpet remnant in cupboard

We've just bought a bargain carpet remnant which will be perfect for the three cupboards in our house - a store cupboard and an airing cupboard plus the understairs cupboard.
The carpet is man made with a felt back.
What's the best way to lay this so it's neat and tidy? OH just wants to cut it to size and lay it straight onto the floor, or maybe use DST at the edges. I'm worried about edges fraying and the carpet lifting if I ever wanted to vacuum in there. Or should we wait until we have carpet fitters in to lay other carpets and talk nicely to them

You could buy some gripper bars to fix to the floor, leaving a space of about 1/4 inch between wall & gripper bar, then cut the carpet roughly the same amount bigger than required & use a small hammer & tool, such as a bolster, slim chisel, or even a wallpaper scraper to push the carpet into the space between the gripper rods & wall. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

Worth a go .
But I would DIY
Forget gripper strips, hate the stuff, too dangerous. Might be difficult to buy in small amounts.
So I would cut carpet to size, then just tack a wooden bead/edging strip around the edges....... its only a cupboard, wont get a lot of wear and tear.0 -

the best way to fit carpet in cupboards is to use spray adhesive.cut carpet first then lift back the edges and spray the floor and the back of the carpet press the carpet firmly to the floor simple as that 1 can about £2 will do 3 cupboards easily dont use dst0

I agree with Foxy. Use spray adhesive which you can buy from B&Q. It's easy to use, means the edges wont fray and is strong enough to cope with a vacuum cleaner. Don't use DST it won't last and the pins in gripper will go straight through the felt backing into the pile - dangerous.0

with it being foam and inside a cupboard you could cover the edges in duck tape to stop the fraying.

Thanks Foxy and Chris. He hadn't thought about spray adhesive, sounds like that could be the answer.0
