I found
airlinenetwork were hard to beat when I booked by USA cars.
Though car prices tend to fluctuaute so always worth shopping around.
Priceline Hotels at the airport can not usually be beat, expect to pay around $35 + tax per room, for a cheapish hotel Priceline LAX0 -
Thanks for the info blindman, Priceline LAX looks interesting, I'll a bit of time on that one this evening.
Airline Network also useful and since posting I've also found these two for car hire bookings made in the UK.

We found that yescarhire.com gave us the best prices for car hire (it included all top up insurances, all taxes, multiple drivers and a tank of petrol). They provided an Alamo voucher for an intermediate size car for 5 and a half weeks rental starting last April. We had the Alamo Gold service and the cost totalled about £760 collected, from LAX.
We used tripadvisor .com for hotels and found that their reviews were eye openers. Saved us from wasting money on a hotel that sounded good but did not live up to it's description.

Try the following link US Carhire
They use Dollar or Alamo, we used them in September in Florida. First Class.0 -
Thanks to you all for your assistance.
Car now booked through USRentaCar - 4dr compact fully incl. £220 for 2 weeks in Feb.
Still looking at hotels but will probably take a chance with the Priceline LAX suggestion.
Thanks again0 -
If you do use PL then do a bit of research from the link I gave earlier.
It's not rocket science but PL has a few quirks and pitfalls of which you need to be aware.0
