post office van insurance

As an avid money saver unfortunately i don't know that much about van insurance can anyone offer me some advice.
Last week my husband bought a ford transit100 t350m rwd tipper van, he is currently insured with the post office until the end of may so i rang monday 9th march to get it covered. The lady said it wasnt on their database needed more info so rang back tue morn gave more info still no price so on its gone until today after my 7th time of ringing 0845, 7 different people this lady said sorry we can't insure you the vans not on our database can't do it. So now i've got to find someone who will insure this van but we lose 1years noclaims bonus cause we cant finish the policy he's currently on, we cant have a refund of the last 11weeks because he had his windscreen fixed in december which unknown to us till now is classed as a claim but you don't lose your no claims bonus, they've got us over a barrel how can we lose money or 1 years no claims when we dont want to insure with anyone else but have no choice.
Thanks in anticipation.

All covered by the ts + cs.

This isn't just peculiar to the post office. All insurers decide whether or not they want to accept the vehicle you want to change to. All they agreed to cover was the van you proposed to them originally.

They did pay for your windscreen repair, and that does mean you must pay up the full premium, and they haven't covered you for the whole year, so no ncd for the part year they have covered.

    Don't shoot the messenger.
