1st ever charge...is it worth contesting?

Hi,
For the 1st time ever I've received a charge for a late payment on a credit card.
Now it's only £12, so seems very trivial compared to the charges I see others listing, so unsure whether I should contest it or not and whether given the circumstance I'm likely to get it reversed.
It's with Capital One, the minimum payment had a due date of the 15th March and I left it with the missus to pay...as usual. She paid it on the 15th March and this was verified/confirmed on the website at the time. Now the 15th March was Sunday....so even though payment was accepted they applied a charge to my account, also dated the 15th, for a 'late or failed payment'.
I may state somwehere that it is my responsibility to ensure the payment is cleared by the 15th so I may not get anywhere and have to suck it up....but would any of you call to argue it?
Thanks.

Maybe call them and as a goodwill gesture they may refund it?
I forgot to change my eBay linked bank account when I changed banks last year. A couple of quid came out from a zero balance (no overdraft in place) and the bank charged me a fee. I explained what had happened to them and they refunded it, seeing as how it was a first offence.
Can't hurt to call them and ask, I guess?0 -
Absolutely! No harm asking, if they say 'no', all you've lost is the price of a phone call (unless it's a freephone number). Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0

Thanks for the replies...the phone op agreed to refund it right away....I didn't even have to push for it.
1 minute conversation to get that refunded and then 5 minutes explaining I have no other balances to transfer to them!
Cheers0 -
I always think it is worth contesting late payment credit card charges if you pay by debit card either on or before the date. Why do they charge you? Why does it take three days to clear?
Tesco don't ask you to come and collect your goods in three days when the 'money has cleared', do they? So why a credit card company?0 -

Excellent!
Think of the thousands of people who get that charge and never bother to question it, and all the money rolling into Egg's coffers as a result...0
