How can I find out about previous buildings insurance claims on my property?

As a freeholder, am I entitled to access information about previous claims on the buildings insurance of my flat? I've been told verbally a couple of times that the insurers paid out for a previous claim, but "it must of been a mistake" as it was damage that wasn't covered by the policy. The policy says that they are responsible for any work they approve or pay for and now they are denying saying that it was paid for previously.
Unfortunately I don't have this in writing - any ideas?
Thanks

Any guarantees are normally sorted out during the conveyance - can your solicitor help find out the answer from the answers given to questions raised prior to exchange of contracts?0

Did you make the claim or a previous owner? If the former then you can see the records under data protection provisions, subject to payment of a fee.0
