Hello
I have a question or Questions actually about buying/using a dongle to attach to my laptop for use in France. Mainly for e-mail and some surfing.
Am I on the correct forum or does that belong on telephones?
EDIT
I am editing this post to include a post from another website which may help others
The Orange France Pay-as-you-go 3G is called "Internet Everywhere Sans Engagement." (nice bit of Franglais there!)
The dongle costs €29 and the top-ups cost:
€3 for 20mins (valid 24 hrs)
€8 for 1 hour (valid 15 days)
€14 for 2 hours (15 days)
€25 for 6 hours (15 days)
It works like the Orange Wifi hot spots, you can log on, get your email and log off and your time can go a long way. Data is not capped. You should be able to make this work for your 3 months.
Hope that's ok?

i wouldnt take one as yuo would pay roaming prices which are £10 per megabyte with some companies and could cost you lots where theyre say its £15£ for 3gb only works in this country the best way is to use wifi out thereReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
Thanks Jamespir. I have a french sim for my mobile (orange) and some of the places we go have wireless access for free or for small payment so we can use the laptop to keep in touch.
I had just thought that on non wifi caravan sites a dongle might solve my problem but I ain't paying a fortune for the privilege.
I read on here about frightening bills for using in USA which had discouraged me anyway.0 -
Just picked this up on another website.
Could be of interest to others

Definetly get a pay-as-you-go as you certainly don't want to find a huge bill waiting for you

It sounds good. You'll find the horror stories tend to lie with data charges, but as Orange France appears to charge by time and not data I doubt you'd run into a problem.0
