In northfield myself tomorrow, round the back of the grovener. Gotta nip into the brokers too to pick up some leads that i can call to start putting in my diary for after BH monday YAY!!!! Start earning some money.
Bell are the cheapest as i have already had 2 claims and 6 points, and fella on provisional.
Have decided that my first £700 will go to clearing off my Mint Credit card and Abbey OD
The next £2500 will go to paying my mum back
The next £8880 will go to paying off my loan
thennnn... im gonna save the rest so that I can start saving for a holiday and pay lumps off my mortgage.
But i need to give myself £150 per month for the broker fees and i want £200 spending money too. Have given myself £20 a weekfrom my personal wage and anything i dont spend will go in my money jar so that i can go shopping in july for ladies day and also some spending money ( have £80 in there so far woop )
Also need to cover my tax and ni (putting 40% away a month to cover this). Want all this done by end of Aug 2010 when i come to remortgage my house.

Morning All
Cheekymonkey you can only have points taken off your licence if they are expired. Have a look on the DVLA website - all the info is on there.
Very pleased with what I got done yesterday, hope to have a good day today as well. Working half hour spurts definately worked.
Today need to ring VAT payment helpline to ask if I can pay my VAT over the next 3 months as I did last quarter, they are being so helpful at the moment it feels weird. Anyway still not looking forward to making that phone call so I will ensure this is the first thing on my to do list & is done at 9am.
Have to go to the post office for 3 vehicles tax & to post a large packet. Just waiting to DS to go to school then will be getting on.0 -
My rant FWIW is to do with our main - well only - customer who is 'supposed' to pay us 6 weeks after being invoiced. However, this rarely happens & atm we are waiting 2 months to be paid. Payment was due last Friday, they said they would send a cheque, should have come either Sat or today (it hasn't). Now even if it comes tomorrow we will be lucky to have cleared funds by Friday - another week gone....
Its vital you get on top of your credit control procedures 6 weeks credit is very generous and could leave you exposed, I am lucky in that my main customer pays me on a maximum of 10 days after invoice which I negotiated at the time we set up the contract.0 -
I hadnt realised that sashanut was giving her clients 6 weeks to pay - I can understand 30 days but 6 weeks is allowing them to take the pi$$, the money would be better off in your account sashanut than theirs.
My payment terms are 14 days and due to the nature of the business that I am in, the clients have to pay in instalments according to the package that they have ordered.0 -
Yes I agree totally with both the above posters - they are taking the Michael  & it is the same *every* month. TBH I did not negotiate the payment terms - it was DH - & because the MD of the company is a personal friend, I think that he lets him get away with it. Trouble is his company in turn get paid by the local authorities - who of course invested millions in Icelandic banks & therefore also drag their feet on paying.....& so it goes on - down the chain to us - eventually Meanwhile I have a CC company phoning about non-payment of CC instalment this month, not to mention late fees
Let's hope the post brings a cheque today - they didn't even have the courtesy to reply to DH's email yesterday about the missing payment. And of course, another invoice will be due to be raised tomorrow....now we are 2 months behind....thank goodness for my little website :T
Memo to self - get off here & do the 30 min sessions, it worked well for me yesterday so same today. Gosh it's a rant a day this week so far:eek:New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
I stopped for lunch and watched the news and had my neighbours fix. Since then I have been writing notes for my assignments so now I can see where I am going with them:j Just need to type them up and tinker with them some more.
Have been reading emails this afternoon - a company called I Will that is in the Midlands, seems to have rather exclusive magazines has invited me to have a stand at one of their fairs in either September, October or November - now do I justify the expense of paying out £240?It seems a lot and I hate the fact that they put the pressure on by saying book by x date and we'll give you 10% discount. Methinks I will have to wait because I don't think that I can currently justify spending that much:rolleyes:
With regard to my website - I do put links to businesses on it and if I don't get a reciprocal one or if the company really pi$$es me off then I remove their link - one company in particular has really annoyed me, she makes lovely wedding stationery and has now been promising me a sample pack for 12 months and yet it has never appeared:mad: She seems to have time though to exhibit at the NEC (its over £1000 for a stand there) and to send me silly emails about how she is doing the graphics for an album cover for an X Factor wannabe:mad:   I need to remove her link and I have made a conscious decision not to use her in future:rolleyes:
With regard to your facebook page - did you set it up in your own name, as blue monkey or the name of your business? Did you set it as a group or a page? I have my own page for me and my personal stuff but also have a group for my business. I am no expert when it comes to facebook and have managed to set things up OK.
Definately sounds like that company is taking the er.. mickey why give her any business if she can't even be bothered to put something in the post? Sounds like you have made the right decision there.
Going by the prices of wedding fairs round here that doesnt sound too bad for a stand, especially if its for the higher end of the business, but, as you said to me (I do listen lol) perhaps wait til nearer the time and you might get a bigger discount?
I really need to sort out my paperwork today ready for the end of tax year, think it will be sad reading! hey, at least I might get a tax refund..yay!!!0 -
It will be a strange day today, have already been to the doctors (nothing serious just wanted a repeat prescription but it involved being seen) and I stopped by Sainsburys and invested in some chocolate - 3 bars of which are market research and will claim these back as a business expense:D
Got some advice from Sammy115 the other day about year ends and she suggested that I have my year end as 30 April as it takes the tax through to the next year - I don't understand it myself so hopefully when the time comes an accountant will know what to do.
Sashanut - change your payment terms, it doesnt matter that DH suggested 6 weeks, common terms for most businesses are 30 days and the councils normally pay within 60 days so why should you wait for money just because so and so council invested in an icelandic bank - that's not your problem.0 -
chocolate as market research... Hmmm great excuse lol. For favours I guess?0

Check the Go Compare website for insurance. I managed to get mine for £105 when my renewal quote was over £300 from my current ones. I have used them for business insurance aswell and knocked over £1200 off what i paid last year. Its better off in your pocket.0

Hi all - have been keeping up to date with the thread but realised that apart from actually posting to say I'd like to join in, I haven't actually posted!
So, I have managed to work since getting back from school run, without being distracted and going off to do something else or check posts on here which is pretty good going for me as I can be very easily distracted! Anyway managed to place an order this morning which has taken ages and cost more than I actually have in my business bank account but, hopefully, will pay off over the next month. Going to take a short break now and then get on with rest of my to do list.
Hope everyone's having a productive day.0
