Lowell Portfolio - The Story So Far...

Received a letter back in December from these scumbags and they've written to me 7 times since.

I sent the stock "I acknowledge no debt..." letter and asked for the original credit agreement, which they're supposedly getting from the original company. I have no knowledge of this debt, which must be at least 4-5 years old because it's related to my old address.

I'm determined not to pay them a penny. They are beneath contempt.

Can they put anything on my credit report and if so, how can I get it removed?

Also, who can I contact about this?

Thanks.

    Hi Ras,

All I know is that it's from Shop Direct (previously Great Universal, I believe). I think it's from a catalogue but in the 11 years I lived there I never bought anything from a catalogue.

.Well if you demanded the CCa and the did not send it, this debt is unenforceable anyway because of non-provision of the CCA.

And if it is that old, then is is also statute barred and unenforceable.

There is a rather good letter that i will tr and edit and post later today.

Well, it's at least 4 1/2 years old and probably a lot older. My guess is it's related to someone else who lived at the old address and they just linked my name to it.
  • What a**e holes. Is there anything you can do with your credit report so potential lenders don't think you still owe someone money?

I read somewhere that you can query defaults.

By the way, I used Experian's free credit report view and thankfully, they've only done a couple of credit checks. Not put any defaults on it.

I got a reply from them saying they've requested a copy of the original credit agreement from their client's archive. Nothing for over a week now.

I'll be pushing just as hard for an apology and some compensation for the time and inconvenience they've caused me.

    B*****ds...

I've written the standard letter to them requesting a copy of my original credit agreement. They said they would chase it but have heard nothing since.

Have just looked at my credit report on Experian's web site and on 29/03/2009, they put a default on there. Spiteful b******s. I didn't think they could do this.

I am incandescent with rage at these people.

Can anyone advise what I can do to get this removed?

    Thanks very much.

    Ed.
  • I don't know how you can get them removed - can you do a note on your credit report?

You should ask for a Notice of Correction on your credit file and explain to the CRAs what's going on.

I would also send another letter to Lowell, reminding them of their obligation to send your CCA and about the default they have placed on your file, advising you'll complain to Trading Standards if they don't remove it.
