Can you use American Express to load a pre-paid card?

I'm interested to know if you can use an American Express card to load a pre-paid card such as the Paypal Top-Up card?

I'm wondering if this is a way around the old problem that not everywhere accepts Amex and therefore limits the 5% cashback opportunities.

Is a pre-paid card a way round this do you think? Or is there a charge which would make it less feasible? Would it be seen as a purchase amount taken by Paypal or a cash transfer?

i think preaid cards can only be topped up with cash in hand, or via bacs/salary credits - not from another (credit/charge card)..

and if it did, the card the ££ came from would most likely make a cash advance charge, which on top of any deduction the prepaid card took, isnt good MSE!

If you can top it up at paypoint then you can pay by credit card.

must be just a local thing then, only accepting cash for topups.
