That may well be true but if someone is getting public money then they should be answerable for it.
One would normally be back in work within 6 months of this sort of operation; after all, the purpose is to cure the condition, not to make someone an invalid for life!0 -
I know it isnt lies or gossip I have been hearing, I do see him myself, quite often infact, we see him anything up to 5 times a week. I dont hate or dislike him at all.
Yes HE has had 2 operations on his knees, does this mean he should be doing !!!!!! all for the rest of his life now that they are fine, if deppression has set in then this is maybe because he is doing nothing and a job could be just what he needs.
My mum worked for 5 years with deppression, im not saying people with deppression should have to work but maybe its just what some people need.
There are so many things he enjoys doing, plenty of which he could get a job in. My DH is a gardener in the summer and whenever he gets some work he is quick to jump on the bandwagon to work with him and a lot of the work he does isnt just cutting grass, its hard work. If he can do something like this, whats to say he cant do a steady job during the rest of the year.0 -
Maybe better to chat to this chap over a cup of tea before you go 'reporting' him to anyone? Maybe you could support & help him if he is fit enough to return to work?
From the sound of it, I think he will know who phoned?? Someone 'reported' me too, I was devastated. The chap who came to visit could not have been nicer or more apologetic.0 -

All above board actually, your allowed to work so many hours a week (16 I believe) as long as you dont earn over £92.0 -

They do, otherwise I wouldn't have said all above board.0 -
Absolute rubbish! Under IB, you are not fit for work. You need to lias with JCP to do permitted work as there are strict rules. Also it could be done under supervision at a hospital programme. This is specifically designed to help people back into work. This is what this man should do. As for the original OP, I should think very carefully about your family circumtances and its implications in shopping him. You should really be encouraging both him and his family. Afterall you all talk about him behind his back so why not help them.
Permitted Work and Supported Permitted Work aren't the same thing.
Permitted Work
Permitted Work is a benefit arrangement - employers do not offer 'permitted work'. You do not need approval from your doctor or have to have a medical test just because you are doing permitted work. However, if a medical test is due as part of your ongoing benefits-related review, it will go ahead as planned.
You can work:- for earnings of up to and including £20.00 a week for an unlimited period, or
- for less than 16 hours a week, on average, with earnings up to and including £92.00 a week for a 52 week period
- for less than 16 hours a week, on average, and earn up to and including £92.00 a week for as long as your illness or disability is considered sufficiently severe that you are treated as meeting the threshold of incapacity without undergoing a medical assessment
Supported Permitted Work
Supported Permitted Work is work that is supervised by someone who is employed by a public or local authority, or a voluntary organisation whose job it is to arrange work for disabled people.
It includes work done in the community or in a sheltered workshop. It also includes work under medical supervision as part of a hospital treatment programme.
You can work in Supported Permitted Work for earnings of up to and including £92.00 a week for an unlimited period.0 -
update. Having just read your post about it being all above board and the DWP know about it. I have one question for you. Why are you moaning if he is doing permitted work? surely he is stepping in the right direction. You lead us to believe that he is lazy and a scrounger.
Yes he is doing permitted work, 8 weeks out of 52, in a busy hard working job, if he can do this then why can he not do a steady job the rest of the year.
I think if someone is supposed to be ill with knee problems on IB then they shouldn't beable to be digging up trees etc0 -
At what point did I say they were the same? I'm I going mad? Just your interpretation I guess :-). Great explanation though.
It still begs the question why the OP is moaning if he is doing this kind of work. The OP seems to know a lot about his business.
The explanation isn't mine, but the government's.
Perhaps the fact that you said "You need to lias with JCP to do permitted work as there are strict rules. Also it could be done under supervision at a hospital programme. " led me to believe that you didn't appreciate the difference!0
