My breadmaker! I always wanted one, and finally got one in the Woolworths sale for £20. Made two gorgeous loaves, then a bakers shop opened across the road! Now I can get fresh baked bread every day without the effort! Can't bear to get rid of the breadmaker tho!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

I agree about juicers. Lots and lots of fruit and very very little juice. Not worth the effortTime is more valuable than money. You can get more money but you can't get more time0

a Splatter guard for the frying pan - used once then found it was a bu99er to clean! its in the 'useless, but can't bear to throw it away' cupboard!0

A pump action flask for dispensing coffee. You know the sort thing that you see for dispensing coffee at trade seminars. It is a large stainless steel flask and you press a button on the top and it dispenses coffee. I saw it in Lidls marked at what I thought was a ridicilously low price about three or four years ago. I have yet to use it.0

What a fab thread. Glad to see I'm not the only useless gadget addict. So my confessions...
1) 2 pasta machines received as wedding presents. Used one once, eventually both went to charity shops
2) Sausage shooter - used once, took for ever to clean, no idea what happened to it
3) icecream maker - received as gift but had no instructions lol went to charity shop
4) waffle maker - still have it, must work up enthusiasm
5) GF with fixed plates - replaced with GF with removable plates - brilliant, can put them into soak
6) some daft syphon thing for taking top of milk off
7) some daft soap thing for making 'new bar' out of yucky old bits (OK not kitchen...)
8) bread maker - it's such a relief to see other people say this. Like you I had no idea about the hole in the bread thing.
9) mixer :-( it's a posh one but has a bowl rather than my old one which was contained. The one time I used it the flour went everywhere. It was a gift from OH so I don't like to replace it with another contained one
and a few of my favourite things - hand held soup blender, freezer, panini press (much easier to clean than sandwich toaster), induction hob (i am for ever letting pasta boil over and it's soooo much easier to clean than the gas hob was), sharp kitchen scissors, le creuset casserole, adjustable drainer thing that sits on my sink and brabantia bin (I could just open and close it for hours)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Sausage shooter?? *imagines something like a splurge gun in Bugsey Malone that fires sausages!*:D
My most useless item would have to be the steamer. I bought it planning on being all healthy and realiesed I like my veggies boiled or roasted best.0 -
I've had a few but the worst was a slow cooker, which is only just about OK for making soup, but a pressure cooker is way better
I was inspired to buy it by the OS forum ... disclaimer, I do not intend to sue ... but everything cooked in it tastes like ready meals or institution food _pale_
& just don't get me started on 'roast' chicken done in it, falling off the bone??? no ... vile, slimy, tasteless slop, not to mention the disgusting smell in your home
anyway, I 'gifted' it to my Ex husband0 -

You can get splash guards for both Kenwood chefs and kitchenaid mixers to stop that. Or cover with a tea towel just as you start it to keep the flour from going everywhere-once it gets incorporated you don't get the mushroom cloud0 -

I agree on the slow cooker-I bought it after reading on here how amazing they were, but everything tasted the same from it. Was OK for stock, or cooking a ham, but it has now left my kitchen :cool:0 -
agree with skinny re the ikea oval bowl with grater lid. We have 2 and use the base of one to hold our plate scrubber and j-cloth. This means if one grater lid is in the dishwasher we always have one ready to use. I do use the wine stopper though. I find now alcohol has to come out of my pocket money my alcohol units have reduced lolMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
