Property Question

I found a very good House for myself today, the owner wanted it off his hands quickly and even offered it below what the estate agents valued it for.

Its pretty much fully furnished
In total saving me around £5k & my offer was accepted

Just need to organise the Mortgate & hope the Survey/solicitor is ok.
What timescale would this normally take? i have appointment wiv mortgage ppl on Monday

Couple of questions as i wanna prepare and get everything in order reading to make the transition, fingers crossed

Re:

Gas, Electric, Phone & Council Tax

Will these all be cut off when I get the house, what do i do to get connected or either change the billing to myself.

I was wondering this because, well what supplier would you go to or would u have 2go the previous suppliers.
e.g Gas - British Gas, Electric- Northern electric, british gas etc

Phone - B.T or can i simply apply to any phone provider to start off. as seen offers for Post Office, £50 given for having there phone. if i connected to just linerental wiv BT, could i swap it to post office immediately to take advantage of the offer.

Same goes for council tax, do i simply ring an office, say i own such property now & arrange the council tax payments.

Do i have a certain amount of time that i must do all of these things once uve bought?

Gas, Electric & phone - Find out from the seller who he's with. Ring them asap when you take over with meter readings for the first 2 and to tell the phones to change to your details. You can decide who you want to be with using the comparison sites on the phones & utilities webpage [above left].
Council Tax - Wish you could get it cut off!!! Just ring them once you own it.

Quite as few other things to worry about and arrange - solicitor for instance, but congratulations and hope everything goes through smoothly.
