Tennant resposibility - story of the brothel - question

Just a couple of questions i'd like answered but first a little background...

moved into a lovely shared house in a smart area of newcastle but still managing to pay minimal rent. Landlords own a number of properties in the area and are a genuinely lovely couple with a relaxed attitude. Unfortunatly I sometimes think this is too relaxed...
On moving in i didnt pay any bond, signed no agreement and paid no rent up front. While this was great for me at first, i soon began to realise that it may have its downside....
After moving all my gear in, i met one of the female housemates, clearly a smack addicted scumbag wh*re who couldnt string a sentance togethor. Within the first 24 hours of meeting this character she showed me her 'modelling' photos, which were of pornagraphic nature. Not such a bad thing at first. Then she pulls out her business card... I must question the 'high class' part of the escort services she was promoting.
To my relief she has since been kicked out of the house after brining clients home on several occasions. Hence why im still living in this spot.

Anyways, thats a completely irrelevant tale as the rest of the housemates all seem reasonably good folk, there are 5 of us in total but a few issues are still existing....

Q1. Who is responsible for broken TV aerial? - When being shown round the place, landlord pointed out the various tv points and there was a TV in the living room. What they didnt say is that the external aerial is no longer working and its impossible to pick up signal with indoor antenna. Are they responsible for this service? They say tennants have to foot the bill of this repair.

Q2. Who is responsible for Gas/Lecky bill when previous tennants move out? As the palce seems to have a revolving door with tennants coming and going we have been landed with an obscene bill for the winter months. 3 of the 5 living here were not around for any part of that period and so dont want to pay a contribution. the other two, understandbly, dont fancy it all. The landlords say that they are not responsible. The bill is addressed to the occupier. Who should pay? or who to chase previous residents?

answer to either question would be fabulous, cheers.
What's it going to be, eh?

Q1, You have no right to a workig arial unless it is in your contract (which in your case is verbal only) if the rent is cheep enough get it fixed your self.

Q2, Take meter readings when you moved and don't get your name added on the bills! They original T's are resposible and its the utility companies job to chase.

    Be ready to walk away!

Oh yes it is. The Occupier was whoever was living at the property.
