halfpint - you can only join pinecone by finding a banner or on the very odd occasion pinecone ask current members to refer people (doesn't happen often at all)

What makes you think I'm 'worked up' ? I know the OP didn't realise the problems - thats why I bothered to explain, its easy to infringe Pinecones strict rules and I didn't want anyone else to get into trouble. 'Worked up 'doesn't come into it .

I forgot to say, Pinecone also send out 'reminders' every so often warning people of the penalties for discussing their work or posting links.

Do I have a link to back what up? MSUK is an 'invitation only' site which was set up for mystery shoppers. Its done as 'invitation only' because there were too many people trying to score points off other members and generally being disruptive, bolshie and just plain nasty ! If my word isn't good enough and you don't want to take what was meant as constructive advice then thats up to you. I can only repeat for the benefit of anyone else who cares to listen - Pinecone do not like links to their site being posted on open forums and, if they find out ( and, believe me, there are a surprising number of nasty people who appear to take pleasure in 'shopping' people who have - often unwittingly - infringed rules) Pinecone WILL ban you. They don't like their surveys or products discussed either but that is a separate point.

I just don't want anyone else to get into the trouble that MSUK had in the past.

I agree about the link thing though, we aren't supposed to give links to people to join (if we happen to find one)

For goodness sake ! Somebody asks a question, someone else gives what is hoped is sensible advice. What is this obsession with being so critical and making assumptions about other peoples moods ? Most people on here are reasonable, friendly and pleasant and aren't 'worked up' about anything. There is nothing 'worked up' about any of my recent posts - I've just told it like it is. Clearly some people think I'm wrong in what I've said - I'm not bothered one way or the other about that, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I certainly don't want to get in an argument. However, I did want to possibly stop anyone from being banned by Pinecone when they didn't realise they were doing anything against Pinecones rules.

Unfortunately (as has been commented about on several other sites) a few people on MSE are less than reasonable and certainly not friendly !

Do what you like about Pinecone - if it goes pie shaped then maybe you will remember that I did warn you. (but I really do hope it won't come to that).

Halfpint - I know you were only asking a simple question and you didn't realise the implications! Please don't think I was critisising you - I just wanted to warn people how sensitive Pinecone can be. Last years carryon on another site was REALLY unpleasant - one member 'shopped' another member to Pinecone over an infringement of the links rule and Pinecone actually traced the person and banned them They really hadn't done anything wrong at all - just misread an email from Pinecone asking for new shoppers and posted it on a website instead of doing it privately. There are some people around who seem to enjoy causing trouble like this - we never found out who it was but there was a lot of suspicion and distrust. After that, the site went'invitation only'.

I agreed with you! I haven't done a thing against the rules, so I highly doubt anything will go 'pie shaped'.
