Patio Door Alignment

Options
Had some some patio doors fitted a while ago. Just opened them today and noticed the inside edge that slides compared to the one thats still was not equal. So if doors are fully open there are two edges that are close to each other. You can quite easily see they are different. Been out with level and it all seems square, read installation leaflet and it says there is a screw underneath sliding runner which raises it up and down. No problem i have raised this a little and now it sits nice and equal between the two posts, but now it won't shut. I have wound it back down as i have to go out later. But what bit do i adjust to allow it to close, the bit on the frame or the bit on the slider. None of them look like they have any play in them.

Also is this common thing, should installers have spotted this? and no i won't be getting them back.

What you need to do to make sure this closes is slide the door so it is 5mm from being closed and then adjust the runner so the door is level with the frame down the front edge. If it is then out of line when they are fully open, as you were explaining it means that something is out of level/square.

If it is level at the front edge and back edge and still wont shut maybe it needs to go up or down by adjusting the runner at the front and back the same amount.

I can't advise what part you can adjust on the frame/door without seeing it, but it is possible that there is no adjustment there.

Let me try and explain it again,

There is one say square to the left, this does not move.
The one on the right moves.
When the one on the right is fully back as you look through the doors it is not square with the one that doesn't move, so i can use the adjustment to square it up but then i need to adjust ........

either the mechanism where the handle is,
or the plate that the handle one will slot into

by tilting the door slightly higher it doesn't go into the slots.

    Hope this helps here

I have now seen there is an adjustment both sides at the bottom of the slider.

I agree with the previous advice, you need to make sure that when the sliding door is being offered into the locking stile that the gap between the edge of the door and the outerframe is equal, if not then you'll have problems locking the door and it may also be draughty, if the frame is level then check that it is also plumb, also make sure that the cill does not sag in the middle. The main priority is security, if the frame is level but not plumb then no amount of adjustment on the wheels will cure it, the only solution is to either live with it or correct the alignment of the outerframe. Apologies if i've got the wrong end of the stick but i hope this helps

I will have a play around with it at a later date, its not critical but thought if it was an easy adjustment i would do it. Will update at a later date.
