I agree with Sammy re the diaries by the way, I think that it is really beneficial for new people to read other DFW stories - it's amazing inspiration - and now it's harder to just stumble across them.

It's not that people don't want to help - Sammy and the rest of this crew have been absolutely fab to me. I chose to join here not looking for help but got it anyway. I never did do the 'help me' thread thing but there are plenty who do and they do deserve and get help.

I will say however that, as a Newbie, I read loads of help appeals and also the 'winning through' diaries. If the diaries hadn't have been mixed in and I had to go looking for something that I may not have know existed it would have seemed all doom and gloom with no hope whatsoever.

    Hope this makes sense! :rotfl:

Maybe a good way forward is to see someone's post and if it has similarities re situation that someone who has a diary has, post a link to the initial poster.:D

    morning all -

at last the sun that you all had yesterday has arrived this far north!

So that in itself is a positive thing!

Well done on the results Sally!!

Pooky - i know what you mean about us runners going on a bit, and i'm one of the worst offenders i know, but honestly it's just cause it's something we're all into at this time and common ground.... we should be more mindful of others though... and there is a running thread so people could always take thier running stuff there... although sometimes a casual comment becomes an indepth conversation on here before y'know it... whether the topic be running, dieting or motoring for example....

Another DFW who opted out for a few weeks a while back told me off the record, it was because we were all a bit diet obsessed for a while, and it was rubbing off on her in a negative way... so goes to show we do have our "topic of the month" and will change subjects again probably next month!!

Please don't feel excluded, as i hope you know that was never the intention...

Re the diaries, i don't really religiously follow any diary as such, but often commented on new ones with only a few posts... some of the stories make very positive reading too...

i do agree that a newbie wouldn't really know where to look, but then the same could be said of anyone on the front page of any forum.... i suppose it's just trial and error...

    Good morning all

I've not been posting so regularly on here as (sorry if this offends) but as I'm not a runner/never intend to be a runner/didn't go to the meet, then I seem to feel a bit excluded....but as it's a positive thoughts kinda day then I'm here and I will post my drivel regardless of who reads it. :D

As chat seems to be staying put here and lots of newbies may find it now the diaries have been moved, maybe it's a good time to show them all how it's done and give a DFW tip that's helped you the most....

Mine has to be meal planning/grocery challenge, which has cut our grocery bill by half each month.....and I hardly ever throw anything away now.

    :D

Sorry you feel like that Pooky. I'm very new to trying to become fit, and have been asking the girls on here for advice recently. I'll try not to mention running again :o

We're doing a grocery challenge here. I'm sick of going shopping, coming home with a trolley full, then not having anywhere to put it because the cupboards/freezer were already full. We wont be shopping, except for milk, fruit, veg etc until what we have in is gone. I can predict there will be some unusual meals in the coming weeks here at the Spud house :D

I dont mind the conversation turning to whatever it stumbles on, I just like to come on here and have a chat about life, love, problems, funny things and sometimes downright insane ramblings (see yesterday)................

There really is something for everyone here, we were all newbies once and I for one just kept on posting my ramblings. I have met some people here who I will be friends for life with, now thats got to be worth sticking around for

And they didnt charge me:D :rotfl:

    Just keep posting.........

I got to feeling a little bit ugh with the whole diet thing too. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm delighted that you are all doing so well, I really am. But, I'm struggling to lose the baby weight and it's getting me down.

I suppose it's a combination of a couple of things. I'm not playing kit so much these days and I obviously used to burn off quite a bit, my muscle is decreasing and in all honesty these days I would have to eat next to nothing to see any weight loss, if I eat normally, regular meals no crap I stay the same at best.

I am allergic to soya so I have to be really careful about what I do eat. I spent 8 days in hospital a couple of years ago after someone fed me wheat free pasta (which is made from soy) and since then even going into a place like wagamamas and breathing in the soy filled air makes me ill. So, I battle with that a bit.

I really was up for doing the cambridge diet thing but all of these meal replacement plans are made with soy (sigh) so I just have to rely on a low calorie diet which I plan myself. But it isn't going too well, I've only lost 7lbs in 3 months and I feel deflated.

I'm not huge, I know that. I'm a size 14, but, I have spent most of my adult life being a 6-8 so it's all relative, to me and people who know me, I am a whale. I'm sick of people telling me how much I've gained, I bloody know that.

Anyway, all of the girls who are losing, a massive well done from me. But equally to those who are struggling, I feel your pain.
