fitting 2 blinds - one behind other

windows have already got vertical blinds fitted, in the recess, at the front of the recess.
however, they dont block out a lot of light when closed, as they are quite a pale creamy/yellow.
could a roller blind be fitted behind them, to block out more light?
the recess is quite deep, so should be able to fit one in.
wondering if anyone has done this, or something similar?

In my bedroom which fronts to a main road I have vertical blinds in the recess. I then fitted a blackout blind over the window, and then curtains sit on top of that on extension brackets. Works well at keeping the orange glow of the street lamps out. Truth is I don't really bother with the curtains anymore.0

Try replacing the vertical blind slats with ones made of black-out material. Since you would be keeping the vertical blind rail, it would be a lot easier, quicker, and cheaper than fitting a roller blind.0

i wanted to keep the existing slats, as they are fine.
ill have to have a look & see what options there are for black-out versions of them.0
